Building Automation Technician
Summary
Building Automation Technician is the primary resource for commissioning a new building automation system, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to service calls. Building Automation Technician must identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain accurate records of installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, service calls, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company databases
- Maintain an advanced level of product knowledge
- Travel to project sites to perform start-up, integration, and training services
- The Building Automation Service Technician diagnoses and repairs problems with the building automation systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on BAS equipment
- Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users
- Perform technical/product training for salespeople, estimators, and engineers at targeted accounts
Additional Job Functions
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives
- Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts
- Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects
- Identify customers’ needs and sales opportunities to help future growth
Qualifications
- Journeyman HVAC Technician
- Minimum 2 years of experience (or formal HVAC schooling)
- Universal EPA license (or able to obtain one within 30 days)
- Advanced fundamentals and knowledge of HVAC system
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and DOT Physical
- Building automation controls knowledge
- Have an Alexandria, MN mechanical competency card (or able to obtain a gas card within 30 days)
- Able to work independently
- Self-motivated
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems
- A solid understanding of network communications technology – Internet, Intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Available for travel 25%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Automated Logic systems
- Customer service or sales support experience
- Proven project management skills
- Application programming experience
- Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD
- BA/BS in Engineering, commissioning agent, technical field, or equivalent successful experience in a similar controls industry role
